Ken Takakura, known as Okarun, begins DAN DA DAN as a shy and socially awkward high-school student with a deep interest in the occult and extraterrestrial life. His friendship with Momo Ayase draws him into a world where supernatural legends and alien encounters turn out to be very real.

Okarun's transformed state is connected to the curse of Turbo Granny, whose supernatural power becomes intertwined with his own. This grants him extraordinary speed and physical abilities, which he learns to use while protecting Momo and their friends from dangerous paranormal threats. His transformation represents an important part of his development, balancing overwhelming power with the determination to help those around him.
