Few X-Men characters embody contradiction quite like Kurt Wagner, better known as Nightcrawler. At first glance, he looks like something ripped straight from a medieval nightmare: blue-black fur, glowing yellow eyes, pointed ears, fangs, a long prehensile tail and an unmistakably demonic appearance. Yet beneath that striking exterior is one of Marvel’s gentlest, funniest and most deeply compassionate heroes. Kurt is a mutant teleporter, an acrobat, a swordsman, a devout man of faith and, above all else, someone who repeatedly chooses kindness even after experiencing some of the ugliest forms of prejudice imaginable. His life has taken him from a travelling circus in Europe to the X-Men, Excalibur, Heaven, Hell, alternate realities, Krakoa and even the streets of New York disguised as a Spider-Man-inspired vigilante. His history is unusually complicated, partly because Marvel has repeatedly revisited and rewritten the circumstances surrounding his birth. What remains constant, however, is the character at the centre of all those stories: Kurt Wagner, the man who refuses to let the world decide what he should become.

History

Blue Origins

Nightcrawler’s birth is almost as complicated as the character himself. Kurt Wagner was conceived as part of an elaborate plan involving Mystique and Destiny, with Destiny’s visions warning of the threat posed by the demonic mutant Azazel. In the modern version of the story, Destiny foresaw that Azazel could unleash a catastrophic chain of events and use his offspring to escape the Brimstone Dimension. Mystique therefore became involved with Azazel while maintaining her public identity as the wife of Baron Christian Wagner in Bavaria. Using her shapeshifting abilities and Azazel’s genetic template, Mystique and Destiny set the events surrounding Kurt’s conception into motion, with the hope that the child would eventually become a force capable of opposing Azazel rather than serving him.

Kurt was born with Azazel’s demonic features and Mystique’s blue colouring, but his arrival quickly became dangerous. The local community discovered enough of the circumstances surrounding his birth to turn against Mystique, and the infant was separated from the people who had brought him into the world. He eventually came into the care of the sorceress Margali Szardos, whose connection to the mystical Winding Way would become enormously important to Kurt’s later life. Marvel itself has acknowledged how many conflicting versions of Nightcrawler’s parentage existed over the decades, with the definitive modern explanation being explored in X-Men Blue: Origins in 2023. Marvel described the story as an attempt to finally untangle the contradictory stories, rumours and deliberate deceptions surrounding Kurt’s birth.

Der Jahrmarkt

Margali Szardos raised Kurt alongside her children Stephan and Jimaine, and the young mutant eventually became part of Der Jahrmarkt, a travelling circus. His unusual appearance made him an attraction, but the circus environment was far from glamorous. Kurt was treated as a freak and subjected to physical and psychological abuse by its owner, Herr Max Getmann, who even used drugs to keep him subdued. Rather than allowing this treatment to destroy him, Kurt found an escape through performance, becoming an exceptionally talented acrobat and trapeze artist. His fellow performers became his family, and the circus gave him something that the outside world often refused to offer: a place where his unusual appearance could be accepted, even if only as part of the show.

Kurt’s relationship with Jimaine Szardos was particularly important during this period, although it was complicated by the secrets surrounding her family and the Winding Way. His mutant teleportation powers first manifested dramatically when Jimaine fell from a trapeze and Kurt instinctively teleported to save her. He also developed a close friendship with Stephan, who feared that his own violent impulses could eventually consume him and asked Kurt to kill him if he ever became irredeemably dangerous. That promise would later haunt Kurt in one of the defining tragedies of his youth.

When Der Jahrmarkt changed ownership, Kurt’s situation deteriorated further and he was increasingly treated as a freak-show specimen. Margali eventually helped arrange his escape after discovering that Getmann intended to sell him. Kurt fled into the woods, where Getmann’s men tried to kill him. His mutant instincts saved him when he teleported away, leaving behind the characteristic cloud of sulphur that would become one of Nightcrawler’s signatures. He eventually found refuge in a Catholic church, where Father Wagner offered him kindness and protection. Kurt adopted the priest’s surname in gratitude.

Tragedy struck again when Stephan succumbed to madness and began murdering people around Winzeldorf. Kurt confronted him, intending to stop the killing, but accidentally killed Stephan during the struggle. The villagers blamed Kurt for the murders and decided that the strange blue mutant must be a demon. A mob came after him, and Kurt was moments away from being lynched when Professor Charles Xavier intervened telepathically. Xavier offered him a place among the X-Men, giving the young man a chance to transform the thing everyone feared about him into a source of strength. Kurt accepted, taking the codename Nightcrawler.

Nightcrawler, the Amazing X-Man

Kurt joined the team assembled by Cyclops to rescue the original X-Men from the sentient island of Krakoa. This new group represented the famous “All-New, All-Different” era of the X-Men, and Nightcrawler quickly became one of its most distinctive members. At Xavier’s School, he trained alongside the other new recruits, refining his teleportation and combat abilities while learning how to operate as part of a team.

Kurt’s personality immediately set him apart. Despite his frightening appearance, he was warm, playful and deeply empathetic. He became particularly close to Wolverine, recognising the goodness beneath Logan’s violent exterior. Their friendship grew into one of the most enduring relationships in X-Men history. Kurt also formed strong bonds with Storm and Colossus, while his friendship with Kitty Pryde would eventually become one of the defining relationships of his life.

Xavier once gave Kurt an image inducer, a device that could make him appear physically normal so that he could move through human society without immediately being judged. Kurt initially used it because he feared rejection, but Wolverine challenged him over whether he was hiding from his own identity. Kurt eventually removed the illusion in a public setting and embraced his true appearance. That moment captured one of the central ideas behind Nightcrawler: the world may look at him and see a monster, but Kurt chooses to see himself as a person first.

Nightcrawler also became involved with Amanda Sefton, who was secretly Jimaine Szardos using a magical identity. His adventures expanded beyond the X-Men, bringing him into conflict and eventual cooperation with heroes such as Spider-Man and the Punisher. During one investigation, Kurt initially believed Spider-Man was responsible for the death of his old circus friend Eric Hoffman, leading to a confrontation between the two heroes. Once the misunderstanding was resolved, Nightcrawler and Spider-Man joined forces against Jigsaw.

Nightcrawler’s Inferno

Nightcrawler’s life rarely stayed peaceful for long. Arcade became one of his recurring enemies, kidnapping Amanda Sefton and trapping the X-Men inside Murderworld. Kurt eventually helped expose a scheme involving Amos Jardine, Spider-Man and the assassin Cutthroat, ultimately working alongside Spider-Man to stop the plot. His circus background proved particularly useful, allowing him to impersonate Spider-Man and turn the trap back on its creators.

One of the strangest chapters of Kurt’s early career began with a birthday gift. The X-Men gave him a crystal statue of himself, only for it to explode and leave him in a coma. Xavier could not detect Kurt’s soul, so Doctor Strange became involved and discovered that Kurt’s spirit had been stolen. The X-Men were dragged into a supernatural adventure inspired by Dante’s Inferno, eventually discovering that Margali Szardos had engineered the ordeal. Doctor Strange used the Eye of Agamotto to reveal the truth about Stephan’s death, allowing Margali to understand that Kurt had not deliberately killed her son. She forgave him and restored his soul.

Kurt and Wolverine later travelled to Canada, where Kurt learned Logan’s real name and confronted the Wendigo. Their friendship deepened as the two discussed Wolverine’s willingness to kill when necessary. Around the same period, Nightcrawler became increasingly suspicious of Mystique after seeing how closely her appearance resembled his own. When she called him Kurt and refused to explain their connection, the mystery surrounding his birth became even more difficult for him to ignore.

To Bamf or Not to Bamf

Nightcrawler’s teleportation ability was both his greatest advantage and one of his greatest sources of danger. During another confrontation with Arcade, Kurt was trapped in a situation where he could not see a safe destination. With no other choice, he attempted a blind teleport and ended up miles above the ground. The experience nearly exhausted him, but it demonstrated how far he could push himself when his friends were in danger.

Kitty Pryde initially found Kurt’s appearance unsettling, but the two eventually became close friends. Their friendship took them into the Shi’ar Empire and eventually into bizarre alternate realities. Kurt was repeatedly forced to adapt to situations in which his teleportation was unreliable or completely unavailable. Those experiences pushed him to develop his swordsmanship and physical combat skills rather than relying exclusively on teleportation.

His adventures became increasingly fantastical, involving pirates, sorcerers, fairy-tale worlds, alternate versions of his friends and even bizarre creatures such as the Bamfs. In one sequence, Nightcrawler was captured by the wizard Shagreen, who suppressed his teleportation abilities because he wanted to understand the secret behind them. Kurt escaped with the help of creatures who resembled him and ultimately defeated Shagreen. His journey through these strange dimensions reinforced another important part of his personality: even when reality itself became absurd, Kurt retained his humour, courage and sense of wonder.

Mutant Massacre

Nightcrawler’s identity became even more important during the conflict involving the Morlocks. When Angel was captured by Callisto and her people, Kurt found himself caught between two groups of mutants who had experienced rejection in very different ways. Because Kurt himself could never truly pass as human, he understood why the Morlocks had withdrawn from society. Yet he ultimately chose to fight for acceptance alongside the X-Men rather than retreat from humanity.

The arrival of Rogue created another challenge. Rogue was Mystique’s daughter and had a criminal past, but Kurt was among the first X-Men to show her genuine compassion. His own unresolved feelings about Mystique made his relationship with Rogue particularly meaningful, and over time Rogue became part of the family Kurt had spent his entire life searching for.

After years of violence, Kurt began questioning Xavier’s dream of peaceful coexistence. Rachel Summers, a time traveller from a dystopian future, challenged his growing cynicism and reminded him that withdrawing from the struggle could have devastating consequences. Kurt eventually returned to his commitment to the X-Men and became a field leader after Storm lost her powers. His leadership was complicated by his insecurity and by the growing hostility toward mutants, but he continued trying to lead through compassion rather than fear.

Kurt’s faith also became more prominent. The arrival of the Beyonder and the increasingly bizarre threats surrounding the X-Men forced him to question what faith meant when faced with beings who seemed almost divine. Rather than abandoning his beliefs, he sought guidance from priests and continued wrestling with the difficult relationship between religion, morality and mutant identity.

During the fight against Nimrod, Nightcrawler was severely injured and temporarily lost his ability to teleport. His powers eventually returned, although using them caused tremendous pain. He nevertheless returned to the fight during the Mutant Massacre, where the Marauders slaughtered the Morlocks. Kurt was brutally injured by Riptide and eventually fell into a coma, requiring treatment on Muir Island.

Excalibur Is Drawn

When Kurt recovered, he discovered that the X-Men had apparently died fighting the Adversary. While mourning with Kitty Pryde, he became involved in a rescue mission involving Phoenix, Captain Britain and Meggan. Their enemies included the multiversal mercenaries known as Technet and the Warwolves, and the entire situation eventually inspired the creation of Excalibur. The team was built around the idea of continuing the X-Men’s dream, with King Arthur’s legendary ideals of justice serving as inspiration.

Braddock Lighthouse became Excalibur’s headquarters, and Nightcrawler quickly emerged as the group’s natural field leader. His relationship with Meggan became complicated because of her troubled relationship with Captain Britain, but Kurt and Meggan resisted acting on their mutual attraction. Excalibur’s adventures were markedly different from those of the X-Men, often involving magic, alternate dimensions, eccentric villains and multiversal politics.

The team became trapped across the Multiverse after encountering fascist alternate versions of themselves and being betrayed by an alternate Moira MacTaggert. Their subsequent adventures took them through countless strange realities. Kurt fought pirates, rescued princesses, battled sorcerers and worked alongside alternate versions of his friends. Eventually, Saturnyne helped guide Excalibur home through the Omniversal Hub.

Nightcrawler also became involved with Doctor Doom, the West Coast Avengers and the Scarlet Witch, while his teleportation abilities were temporarily stabilised by Doom’s technology. His ability to adapt to impossible situations made him indispensable to Excalibur, and his charm repeatedly turned potential enemies into reluctant allies.

Technet

Technet became one of the stranger responsibilities Kurt inherited when Saturnyne cancelled the mercenaries’ contract to capture Phoenix and left them on Earth. Nightcrawler decided that Excalibur should take responsibility for them rather than allow them to run wild. At the same time, tensions between Nightcrawler and Captain Britain reached a breaking point because of Meggan. Captain Britain eventually confronted Kurt physically, leaving him with a broken femur.

Kurt recovered while attempting to discipline Technet and turn them into something resembling a functioning team. Their missions eventually brought them into conflict with Necrom, whose plans threatened the fabric of reality itself. As space-time fractured, Nightcrawler’s teleportation became increasingly unstable, forcing him to consciously control his jumps rather than relying entirely on instinct. Excalibur ultimately defeated Necrom and destroyed the Lighthouse to prevent Merlyn from exploiting its energy matrix. Kurt then declared that the team would continue without allowing itself to remain the pawn of hidden masterminds.

Bonding

After recovering from his broken leg, Nightcrawler returned to Winzeldorf when an old acquaintance asked him to investigate a series of apparent monster attacks. The case brought him back into contact with the prejudices he had experienced as a young man. Wolverine was investigating the same mystery, and together they discovered that the attacks were connected to people deliberately manipulating fear of monsters. Kurt once again became the target of the villagers’ suspicion, but when he risked his life to rescue innocent creatures from a burning castle, the villagers finally recognised the injustice of their behaviour.

Kurt continued developing as Excalibur’s leader while helping Cerise adapt to life on Earth. Their relationship became romantic, and he also demonstrated his ability to think strategically, including when he deceived the Trolls while protecting a young mutant. Later, Excalibur became involved with the Warpies and an elaborate conspiracy surrounding their supposed loss of powers. Nightcrawler’s leadership again proved crucial as he secretly coordinated with Cerise to free the team and expose the deception.

Cerise’s eventual arrest by the Starjammers became another emotional blow. Kurt refused to believe that she was simply a murderer and followed her to a prison world. He eventually discovered that she had resisted the Shi’ar Empire’s oppression of other civilizations. Although her actions had resulted in murder, the circumstances were far more complicated than they initially appeared. Kurt returned to Earth heartbroken but still determined to live according to his principles.

Unforgiven

Nightcrawler returned to the X-Men and continued working with Excalibur against the Acolytes and other threats. During this period, he confronted some of the deepest mysteries of his own family. An investigation into Graydon Creed eventually revealed that Mystique was his biological mother and that Creed was his half-brother. Kurt was devastated when he discovered that Mystique had deliberately abandoned him as an infant.

The confrontation ended with Mystique sacrificing herself to save Kurt, while Rogue helped save his life. For perhaps the first time, Kurt was able to see Rogue as the sister he had never known he needed. Later, Amanda Sefton helped him confront D’Spayre and the psychological wounds left by his childhood. Kurt eventually forgave Margali for keeping his origins secret and accepted her as his mother, showing once again that forgiveness was not weakness for him but a conscious choice.

Kurt was later possessed by Gravemoss, who attempted to use his body to acquire Magik’s Soulsword. Kitty Pryde was eventually forced to impale Kurt with the weapon to free him from the possession. When Black Air and the Hellfire Club later launched a demonic invasion of London, Nightcrawler temporarily abandoned his usual pacifist approach, but ultimately returned to his belief that the X-Men existed to help people rather than simply wage war.

Back to Basics

Following the wedding of Captain Britain and Meggan, Nightcrawler returned to America with Kitty Pryde and Colossus, effectively bringing Excalibur to an end. They soon discovered that an artificial intelligence connected to Cerebro had created false X-Men while attempting to eliminate a corruption in its programming. After defeating the malfunctioning system, Kurt reunited with Xavier and the remaining X-Men.

Kurt then found himself involved in another confrontation with Magneto, whose growing political influence threatened the world. When Xavier became obsessed with preparing for Magneto’s rise, Kurt reminded him that the past should not dictate the future. After the X-Men were temporarily disbanded, Kurt struggled with a loss of purpose and sought comfort in a church, only to become involved in another conspiracy involving Skrulls and Apocalypse.

Father Wagner

Religion became an even more important part of Kurt’s identity when he decided to enter the Catholic Church while continuing to serve with the X-Men. As Father Wagner, he celebrated Mass at St. Michael’s Church while also dealing with supernatural threats involving Limbo, Belasco and the N’Garai. He eventually helped Magik defend Limbo and recognised her as Amanda Sefton, offering her his blessing despite the darkness surrounding her.

His connection to Amanda continued through increasingly dangerous magical conflicts. Kurt fought alongside her against threats to Limbo and eventually destroyed a digital repository of magical knowledge that would otherwise have evolved into the monstrous Archenemy. His actions saved Limbo, but the experience also reinforced his belief that power without wisdom could become catastrophic.

Nightcrawler was later targeted by the Warclan, a sect of Neo mutants who blamed the X-Men for their suffering. Even after being badly injured, Kurt tried to resolve the conflict rather than simply destroy his enemies. His faith also complicated his relationship with Cerise, whose romantic advances he rejected because of his commitment to the priesthood.

Holy War

Kurt’s role as both X-Man and religious figure became increasingly complicated. He helped a London mutant community deliver a baby, investigated massacres committed against mutants and confronted the Church of Humanity, an extremist anti-mutant organisation that used religion as a weapon. The experience left him with amnesia and a growing sense that something was deeply wrong.

His crisis deepened when the Church manipulated him into believing that his religious calling was part of a genuine path toward priesthood. Kurt eventually discovered that the organisation had deliberately orchestrated his ordination so that it could later expose him as a mutant and use the revelation to support its anti-mutant ideology. He ultimately renounced the priesthood and stepped down as X-Men leader. The Church was destroyed, but the experience left Kurt with a complicated relationship with religious institutions even though his personal faith survived.

The Devil Inside

The X-Men later encountered the Exiles, among them Nocturne, an alternate-reality daughter of a different version of Nightcrawler and the Scarlet Witch. Kurt immediately developed a bond with her, finding it strange and touching to meet someone who regarded him as her father despite coming from another reality.

The mystery surrounding Kurt’s connection to Azazel eventually exploded into a major conflict. After being manipulated into travelling to Isla des Demonas, Nightcrawler became part of a ritual involving numerous mutant teleporters. The ritual opened a portal to the Brimstone Dimension and brought Azazel closer to Earth. Kurt learned that Azazel was his father and that he was part of the Neyaphem, a race of demonic-looking mutants. Azazel offered Kurt the chance to rule alongside him, but Kurt rejected the offer and defeated him, making it clear that his heritage would not determine his morality.

Nightcrawler later joined X.S.E., Storm’s team of sanctioned Global Marshals, and investigated a series of supernatural crimes. His work brought him into contact with Christine Palmer, who became a friend and romantic interest. Kurt investigated demonic possession, confronted Pazuzu and continued taking on cases involving the Fury, Viper, the Hellfire Club and the Hauk’ka. He also shared a brief romantic moment with Rachel Grey, while maintaining his close relationship with Nocturne.

Winding Ways

After being attacked by Vermin, Kurt experienced hallucinations that forced him to revisit painful memories. He travelled to Winzeldorf with Wolverine and Christine Palmer and was drawn back into the mysteries surrounding his childhood, the circus and the Winding Way. When an attack threatened the old circus, Kurt became determined to protect the people and creatures connected to his past.

Amanda Sefton eventually revealed that she had hidden the Soulsword inside Kurt because she believed his pure spirit could protect it from corruption. When the sword was removed, a demonic entity used Wolverine as a host. Kurt was forced into an agonising confrontation with his best friend and ultimately had to break Wolverine’s neck to free him from the demon’s control. He then accepted responsibility for guarding the Soulsword.

The period also marked another major turning point. Nightcrawler survived the reality-altering events of House of M and remained one of the relatively small number of mutants who retained their powers after the Decimation. He remained loyal to Xavier even when other X-Men questioned their former mentor, and he later joined the team that travelled into Shi’ar space to confront Vulcan.

The Messiah Complex crisis followed, with rival factions fighting over Hope, the first mutant born after the Decimation. Kurt was badly wounded but continued fighting. After the conflict, he travelled through Europe with Wolverine and Colossus and later returned to the X-Men in San Francisco. Kurt even used his image inducer to disguise himself as a priest while confronting Scalphunter, ultimately choosing forgiveness over revenge.

Hope

The struggle surrounding Hope Summers became one of the most important moments of Kurt’s life. As mutant numbers dwindled, the X-Men increasingly adopted desperate methods, and Nightcrawler became uncomfortable with the team’s willingness to use lethal force. Bastion’s forces deliberately targeted mutant teleporters because they understood how strategically important teleportation was to the X-Men’s ability to protect Hope.

When Nightcrawler became the only teleporter capable of getting Hope to safety, he pushed his body beyond its limits. He repeatedly teleported across the country while carrying Hope, eventually reaching Utopia. When Bastion caught up with them, Kurt placed himself between the villain and Hope and made one final teleport. He died after successfully getting Hope to safety, believing that she represented the future of mutantkind. His death devastated the X-Men, particularly Wolverine.

The aftermath was profoundly spiritual. Kurt’s soul reached paradise, but he was not entirely at peace. His connection to Azazel and the demonic forces surrounding his origins followed him even after death. Eventually, Kurt formed an alliance with the Bamfs and helped his friends from beyond the grave, setting the stage for his eventual return to the living.

The Quest for Nightcrawler

While Kurt was dead, his spirit remained connected to the X-Men. When Wolverine’s body was possessed by a demon, Kurt entered Logan’s soul and helped him resist the corruption. He later made a deal with the Bamfs, tiny demonic creatures based on his own appearance, allowing him to maintain a connection with the living world. The Bamfs eventually infested the Jean Grey School, creating chaos but also giving Kurt a way to remain connected to his friends.

When Azazel’s forces invaded and captured the X-Men, Kurt returned to action from beyond the grave. He hijacked one of Azazel’s pirate ships, rescued his teammates and eventually made the enormous decision to return permanently to Earth. A new body was formed for him from Bamfs, and Kurt finally confronted Azazel directly. He defeated his father and returned to the X-Men, although the experience came at a profound spiritual cost.

Reborn

Returning to life was not easy. Kurt struggled with the consequences of abandoning paradise and reconnected with Amanda Sefton, only to become involved in another conflict involving Margali Szardos and the Realm Beyond. When Margali attempted to conquer paradise, Kurt was forced to confront yet another complicated chapter in his relationship with his foster mother.

As a teacher at the Jean Grey School, Kurt began mentoring younger mutants. He also developed new ways of using teleportation, eventually becoming capable of making jumps to places he had never personally visited with the help of the Bamfs. When Wolverine later died, Kurt was devastated yet again, remembering the friendship that had helped shape his entire life.

Kurt’s adventures with Bloody Bess and the Crimson Pirates pushed him into another battle against the Shadow King. He was eventually mortally wounded while attempting to rescue mutant children from slavery, but Bess used her telepathy to preserve his essence. Kurt and Bess eventually rescued the children and dismantled the slave operation, allowing him to return to the X-Men with renewed purpose.

Inhumanity

The Terrigen Mists created a devastating crisis for mutants, causing M-Pox and worsening tensions between mutants and Inhumans. Kurt witnessed the mass execution of mutants in Germany and was so traumatised that he withdrew into a state of despair, questioning his faith and his purpose. The Marauders eventually captured him and amputated his tail, but the X-Men rescued him before Mister Sinister could experiment on him. Jean Grey later helped him break through the psychological trauma that had consumed him.

Kurt then became involved in the conflict surrounding Omega World and Apocalypse. He displayed a darker side of himself while attempting to rescue Colossus, eventually defeating Apocalypse through deception and restoring Colossus. During the Inhuman conflict, Kurt initially joined Magneto’s more aggressive faction but ultimately returned to Storm’s team when the situation became too dangerous. The conflict ended after the Terrigen Mists dissipated, allowing the X-Men to leave Limbo.

Prestige

After the X-Men returned to the Xavier Institute in Central Park, Kurt developed a romantic relationship with Rachel Grey. Their relationship grew from friendship and mutual concern, but it eventually became complicated when Rachel was manipulated by Mesmero. Kurt considered proposing, but the relationship ended after Rachel regained control of herself and decided she needed time away from the situation. Their friendship survived the breakup.

Kurt also experienced one of his strangest deaths when humans attacked him after mistaking him for a demonic creature. He survived because of his unusual spiritual status, having previously rejected paradise. Later, while trapped in the Negative Zone, he attempted a blind teleport and merged with a massive stone creature, suffering catastrophic injuries. Once again, his connection to the afterlife prevented him from simply dying.

When Jean Grey returned from death, Nightcrawler became one of the people who helped her readjust to a changed world. Jean recruited Kurt as the first member of a new X-Men team built around a vision of unity. The team eventually faced Cassandra Nova and her manipulation of global leaders, culminating in a battle on Genosha.

Mutant Celebrity

During the Age of X-Man reality created by Nate Grey, Nightcrawler became a famous actor and celebrity. At first, the seemingly perfect mutant society appeared to be a dream come true, but it was actually built upon psychic control. Kurt developed a forbidden relationship with Meggan and became involved in the mystery of Tenia Jean, a girl he somehow recognised as his daughter despite having no direct memories of her.

The truth revealed how artificial the entire reality was. Laws of Krakoa
