Thiago Emiliano da Silva (born 22nd September 1984), commonly known as Thiago Silva, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a central defender for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian national team.
The 6ft tall centre back started his professional career for Fluminense. Here Thiago Silva managed to make 81 league apperences for the Brazilian team over a 3 year period. In 2007 Silva helped his teammates to secure the Copa do Brasil. Individually Thiago Silva earnt the Bola de Ouro award in the same year.
After the big 10Million Euro deal that secured Thiago Silva's services for Italian giants AC Milan in 2008, he went on to gain more honours in his 3 season spell there. Playing up to 93 league games for Milan, he helped his team to secure the Serie A league title in 2010-11 and also the Supercoppa Italiana in 2011.
After his last season for Milan (2011-12) Thiago Silva agreed 5 year contract at a MASSIVE 42Million Euro transfer deal to the French club Paris Saint-Germain.
Internationally Thiago Silva has been one of Brazil's main defenders for many years. After making up to 39 International apperences in 6 years, Silva has seen victory with honours in the Olympics; Bronze medal (2008) and Silver Medal (2012). This is also backed up by recently enjoying victory in the FIFA Confederations Cup win over Spain in 2013.
Individually Thiago Silva has also been inducted into the Serie A teams of the year (2010-11 and 2011-12) and UEFA teams of the year (2011 and 2012). Also claiming the Serie A defender of the year award in 2011.
