Within the heroic ranks of Masters of the Universe, some warriors are known for their intelligence, others for their mystical abilities—but a few earn their place through sheer unstoppable force. One such hero is Ram-Man, the famously stubborn yet courageous warrior often referred to as the Heroic Human Battering Ram.

Short, immensely powerful, and capable of launching himself like a living projectile, Ram-Man became one of Eternia’s most unique champions. But his journey toward becoming a loyal member of the Heroic Warriors began in a rather unusual—and slightly embarrassing—way.

The First Encounter with He-Man

Ram-Man’s first encounter with He-Man was far from friendly.

At the time, Ram-Man was fiercely defending a particular stretch of land on Eternia, claiming the territory as his own personal domain. When He-Man happened to cross through the area while driving the powerful Attak Trak, Ram-Man immediately moved to stop him.

Planting himself squarely in the path of the vehicle, Ram-Man demanded that the stranger halt. He-Man calmly explained that he was on an urgent mission and had no time to waste. Unfortunately, Ram-Man interpreted this explanation as nothing more than a clever trick.

Convinced he was being deceived, Ram-Man launched into action.

Using the immense spring-loaded strength in his legs, he propelled himself directly toward the Attak Trak, slamming into it like a human battering ram. The attack was impressive—but ultimately futile. He-Man’s incredible strength quickly allowed him to overpower Ram-Man, ending the confrontation almost as quickly as it had begun. With the misunderstanding resolved for the moment, He-Man continued on his mission.

Skeletor’s Manipulation

No sooner had He-Man departed than two mysterious figures appeared seemingly out of thin air: Skeletor and his savage lieutenant Beast Man.

Skeletor immediately began manipulating the situation.

He told Ram-Man that he and Beast Man were also enemies of He-Man—whom he dramatically described as the “terror of all Eternia.” According to Skeletor, they needed Ram-Man’s help to stop the powerful warrior before he could cause more trouble.

Ram-Man, known for his straightforward nature and somewhat gullible personality, believed the villains without hesitation. Thinking he was helping defeat a dangerous enemy, he agreed to assist them in their plan to attack Castle Grayskull, the mysterious fortress tied to the greatest power in Eternia.

The Assault on Castle Grayskull

Skeletor’s strategy was simple but cruel.

He ordered Ram-Man to repeatedly ram into the jaw-bridge entrance of Castle Grayskull, hoping the warrior’s incredible impact strength would weaken and eventually destroy the fortress’s main gate.

Ram-Man obeyed, launching himself again and again at the massive stone structure.

Eventually, exhaustion began to take its toll. Ram-Man wanted to stop and rest—but Skeletor refused to allow it. Instead, the evil sorcerer used the mystical power of his half of the Power Sword to magically force Ram-Man to continue attacking the gate against his will.

Under the spell’s influence, Ram-Man became little more than a living siege weapon.

Realizing the Truth

When He-Man arrived at Castle Grayskull and saw what was happening, he immediately demanded that Skeletor release Ram-Man from the magical control.

Rather than comply, Skeletor and Beast Man launched a direct attack on He-Man.

Meanwhile, Ram-Man continued smashing into the jaw-bridge, unable to stop himself. During the chaos of the battle, however, he began to notice something strange—He-Man was outside the castle, not inside as Skeletor had implied.

If He-Man wasn’t inside Grayskull… then Skeletor had lied.

At that moment, Ram-Man finally understood that Skeletor and Beast Man were the true villains.

Breaking Free and Turning the Tide

Determined to defeat He-Man, Skeletor redirected more mystical energy from his sword to attack the heroic warrior. But this decision came with an unintended consequence.

By diverting the power, Skeletor accidentally broke his magical hold over Ram-Man.

Freed from the spell—though still exhausted from the relentless ramming—Ram-Man immediately turned against the villain who had manipulated him. Just as Skeletor was about to deliver a deadly blow to He-Man, Ram-Man launched himself forward and attacked the evil sorcerer.

Now fighting side by side, He-Man and Ram-Man together proved too powerful for Skeletor and Beast Man. Realizing the battle had turned against them, the two villains escaped the scene in their classic fashion—vanishing in a puff of smoke.

With the misunderstanding finally cleared, He-Man and Ram-Man quickly set aside their earlier conflict. The two warriors formed a friendship on the spot, and Ram-Man pledged himself to the cause of good. From that moment forward, he became a steadfast member of the Heroic Warriors, using his incredible ramming ability to defend Eternia against the forces of evil.

Trivia

  • During Ram-Man’s very first appearance, his color scheme followed an early design concept that was also used in toy cross-sell artwork promoting the action figure line.

  • The character’s distinctive spring-loaded ramming ability was inspired directly by the mechanics of his original 1980s action figure, whose legs compressed and released to simulate a charging attack.

Appearances

Ram-Man appeared prominently in the Series Two Mini Comics, the small storybook comics included with Masters of the Universe action figures produced by Mattel.

Notable appearances include:

Mini Comics – Series Two

  • He-Man Meets Ram-Man!

  • The Terror of Tri-Klops!

  • The Tale of Teela

  • The Power of... Point Dread! (mentioned only)

These early mini comics played a huge role in shaping the mythology of Eternia, often introducing new characters, alliances, and battles that expanded the lore of Masters of the Universe far beyond the toys themselves.

What began as a misunderstanding between Ram-Man and He-Man eventually forged one of the most loyal alliances among the Heroic Warriors. Once tricked by Skeletor, Ram-Man quickly proved his true character by standing up against evil and defending Castle Grayskull alongside Eternia’s greatest champions.

With his signature helmet, unstoppable charge, and courageous spirit, Ram-Man became one of the most memorable heroes in the Masters of the Universe universe—both in the classic mini comics and the iconic action figures that helped define 1980s pop culture.
